Bespoke Construction Services were responsible for the £49 million construction package of two multi-storey residential blocks containing 278 apartments. The blocks represent a striking new feature on the city centre’s skyline, placing sustainability at the heart of its design.
It was important for the blocks to meet building safety regulations without compromising on aesthetics, so a soffit solution for the underground car park needed to maintain a sleek, refined finish. Knauf Insulation Rocksilk Soffit Liner system was chosen due to its excellent non-combustible properties and A1 Fire Classification rating, while its black tissue facing ensured the soffit insulation would not be visible from below.
Rob Eyre, Internal Sales Executive - Structural at Encon Birmingham, leveraged his knowledge in building insulation to arrange the delivery of all boards and fixings. Bespoke Construction Services are a longstanding interiors customer at Nevill Long Birmingham and took the opportunity to benefit from another specialist division of The Encon Group on this project.
Rob comments: “The logistics involved in accessing the site were complex, with a tight area of just 10,000 sq metres in the Cultural District to deliver into, and with no overnight storage facilities.
“Our support helped to overcome these challenges by scheduling four or five small first drop deliveries per week, containing only the products being used that day. Everything else was held in stock at our branch ready to be delivered when needed. On days when work progressed ahead of schedule, we were able to arrange an additional evening delivery to keep work progressing.”
Our dedicated fleet comprises of different vehicle types including 32-tonne, 26-tonne HGVs, flatbeds and box vans suitable for diverse environments. In conjunction with our warehouse facilities at Encon Birmingham, our fleet enabled us to adapt to the delivery requirements at the site so we could provide the support our customer needed.
