The £26.8M five storey project spans 56,403 sq ft of modern, user-friendly offices, addressing the need for high quality offices in the city centre. The steel and glass structure is a central facet of Bradford’s rejuvenation, representing the first new Grade A office space in the city for over 20 years.
The innovative design future proofs the building, with capability of subdivision across all floors if required. A section on the ground floor will be reserved for future fit-out as leisure or retail space.
The sub-contractor, C & I Smith, chose Encon Leeds to supply Leviat (Ancon) windposts, providing vital support to the building’s modern structure. Thirty-two wind posts were required throughout the build, each of different sizes and dimensions, meaning meticulous planning and design was essential.
C & I Smith, working with appointed main contractor Caddick Construction, had only 12 weeks to complete their part on this project. This was a short period when considering lead times for windposts are 4-8 weeks from design to manufacturing. Therefore, it was imperative that the windposts were designed, made and delivered on time and without error to avoid delays.
